A poem by my friend Dottie, whom I love. Had to post it, makes me sound great.

YOUR BIRTHDAY SONG:

ROSES ARE RED
VIOLETS ARE BLUE
I LOVE MARTINIS
AND SO DO YOU.

THIS MAKES YOU REALLY AWESOME….
BUT THERE’S SO MUCH MORE…
LIKE YOUR SMASHING GOOD LOOKS,
AND YOURE PERSONALITY’S NOT A BORE!

YOU’RE REALLY REALLY AWESOME,
AND WAY, SUPERDUPER COOL…
I WANT TO BE SO MUCH LIKE YOU,
THAT I LITERALLY DROOL.

OKAY LETS BE HONEST
IM NOT GOOD AT WRITING RHYMES,
BUT I CAN MAKE A GOOD GIN N TONIC,
WITHOUT THE LIMES!

SO I’LL LIFT MY GLASS (when i get home form work)
AND I’LL LIFT IT HIGH….
CAUSE YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON IN THE WORLD
WHO CAN CLAIM THE TITLE OF “MOST AWESOME” AT 35!

of my son.

When discussing the fact that most children don’t lose teeth til they are 6 or so (his big sister just lost one, and he is jealous), Blue Boy asked me why. Why is it like that? That you don’t lose teeth til you’re 6 or so. Well, darlin, that’s just the way God make your body to grow. Your teeth will come out when they should. You just have to be patient. Well, when did he make us and decide that’t the way it should be? He asked. I told him what I think, that he was created and planned years and years ago, before the beginning of time, and that is just what God thought would work best. Well, when? I don’t have that exact time, hon, but it was a loooong time ago. He then asked, was it way back in the ’30s? Now everybody say, aaaaawwwwwwwww, isn’t that too sweet!

quotes, in my opinionDecember 9, 2005 1:43 pm

I am, yet again, loving something over at Emerging Grace. The entire post is great, but I’m going to steal this one quote, for a teaser. For those of you who may struggle with this thing that seems to be happening in the modern church. For those of you wondering if there is more. Should there be more. And for those of you who may not understand, and are uncomfortable, even critical, of the emerging conversation. I want to shout this from the mountain tops.

While some folks (who shall remain nameless) want to assign you to the religious scrap heap, believing that you’re just “backslidden” or part of the prophesied “great falling away,” some of us see something else happening. Something frightening and at the same time encouraging and hopeful.”

I like it.

“I know that must be an acceptable serving size, because I’m still hungry”.

Mom, I like my life.
Jake, nearly 10

I surely don’t do everything right, but that statement means I’m doing something right…right?
